A Cornish conservationist, veteran, and founder of The Thousand Year Trust, Merlin’s mission is both bold and deeply hopeful: to help triple the UK’s rainforest cover to one million acres over the next thirty years.
Merlin’s new book, Our Oaken Bones - published earlier this year and shortlisted for the 2025 Wainwright Prize - tells an honest and intimate story of renewal, the healing power of nature, and our duty to heal it in return. Copies will be available to purchase during the event.
His work restoring and protecting these ancient ecosystems has been featured in National Geographic, The Guardian, and on the BBC.
This is a seated event in the Auditorium at Frieze, No.9 Cork Street. We invite attendees to enjoy the exhibition Andrew Gifford - Moss Lght, painting the Temperate Rainforest that will be on show at both Frieze and two minute walk away at John Martin Gallery.
